AUBURN — The line of Liam Benson, Cody Woodward and Ben Steele each had a goal and two assists as the Edward Little Red Eddies defeated Windham/Westbrook 4-0 at Norway Savings Bank Arena on Wednesday night.

Benson opened the scoring with 30 seconds remaining in the third period, with his two linemates picking up the assists. In the second period, Steele made it 2-0.

Jason Cote stretched the lead to 3-0 early in the third, while Cody Woodward capped off the scoring eight minutes into the period. His linemates Steele and Benson recorded the assists.

Ben Feldman stopped all 15 shots he faced as EL improves to 6-3 on the season. Alex LeBlance stopped 30 shots for Windham/Westbrook (5-2).

Girls’ hockey

Lewiston/Oak Hill/Monmouth 5, Winslow/Erskine Academy 2

LEWISTON — Corinne Laberge had a hat trick and assist to lead Lewiston/Oak Hill/Monmouth Blue Devils to the 5-2 victory over the Winslow/Erskine Academy Black Raiders.

After the two teams scored a goal in the first period, the Blue Devils pulled away as Laberge scored her second and third goals of the game 32 seconds apart to make 3-1. Bree Bergeron then made it 5-1 as she potted a pair of goals.

Chloe Morin had a pair of assists for the Blue Devils.

The Black Raiders scored one more in the third off of Jordan Lebrie’s stick. Paige Veilleux scored Winslow’s first goal.

Men’s basketball

Vermont 90, Maine 72

BANGOR — Trae Bell-Haynes scored 27 on 10-of-14 shooting, and Ethan O’Day finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals to lead Vermont to a 90-72 win over Maine on Wednesday night.

Cam Ward added 10 points for the Catamounts (9-7, 1-0 America East), who have won three in a row and five of their last six. Five Vermont players scored during 13-4 run that pushed its lead to into double figures, 62-52, for the first time with 12 minutes left.

A few minutes later, the Catamounts used a 17-5 spurt to push their lead to 21 points with just more than three minutes to play. Maine (4-10, 0-1) shot 51.8 percent from the field, but committed 18 turnovers and made just 9 of 20 free thr
