PARIS — Negotiations between the Oxford Hills Education Association and School Administrative District 17 directors are expected to begin again in two weeks.
SAD 17 Director Barry Patrie, who chairs the negotiation team, told the board last week that he expects seven or eight sessions to take place beginning Monday, Jan. 18. The two sides met in December to set the dates.
The association and directors ratified a new one-year contract in early September.
The previous three-year contract expired June 30. At the time, Patrie said it “was basically a one-year extension of the previous contract.” He said both sides would be back at the negotiating table at the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016 to resume talks for a three-year contract.
The one-year extension provided a 2.25 percent increase in base salary, according to Superintendent Rick Colpitts.
The previous three-year contract gave teachers a base pay increase of 2 percent in the first year and 2.25 percent in the second and third years, reduced the annual costs of steps and boosted the the starting teacher pay from $27,797 to $30,600.
Patrie said he expects to give the full board a report on negotiations at its meeting Tuesday, Jan. 19, or the first meeting in February.
