Monmouth 63, Boothbay 60

MONMOUTH — Mat Foulke hit a halfcourt shot at the buzzer in overtime to give Monmouth a 63-60 MVC boys’ basketball win over Boothbay on Wednesday night.

Hunter Richardson led the Mustangs (7-4) with 23 points, including a game-tying 3 in OT. Nick Sanborn tallied 16 points and Luke Thombs added 11.

The Seahawks (8-4) were paced by Abel Bryer with 22 points, while Jacob Leonard netted 13 and Kyle Ames added 12.

Buckfield 65, Pine Tree 61

BUCKFIELD — Buckfield had a slight edge in offense during the middle portion of the game, pulling away to post a 65-61 victory over Pine Tree Academy in a boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

Alec Brough led the Bucks (6-6) with 17 points, while Jake Kraske tallied 16 and Hunter Wiley added nine.

Pine Tree Academy (8-2) was paced by Jalen Tamalea with a game-high 26 points, while Alex Milano chipped in  15.  

Poland 70, Traip 65

POLAND — Poland held off a late-game rally by Traip and hung on to post a 70-65 victory in WMC boys’ basketball Wednesday evening. 

Nate Chouinard and John Fossett led the Knights (6-5) with 20 points each, while Patrick Kuklikski chipped in 15. 

Traip (4-6) was led by Joey Cavanagh with 14 points, while Angelo Succi tallied 13 and Alex Foy added 11.

Oxford Hills 64, Mt. Blue 55

PARIS — Andrew Fleming drained 26 points, hauled down 12 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead Oxford Hills to a 64-55 KVAC victory over Mt. Blue Wednesday. 

Jake Beauchesne chipped in for the Vikings (9-2) with nine points and seven rebounds. 

Zack Mittelstadt scored a game-high 31 points for the Cougars (1-10).

Hall-Dale 58, Mountain Valley 49

RUMFORD — Hall-Dale used a 17-7 run in the third quarter to take control of a 58-49 victory over Mountain Valley in a MVC matchup Wednesday.

Jett Boyer led the Bulldogs (7-5) with 18 points, while Quinn Stebbins tallied nine and Nate Mills added eight. 

The Falcons (1-9) were led by Ryley Flynn with 15 points, while Zach Duguay chipped in nine. 

Girls’ basketball 

Oxford Hills 59, Mt. Blue 30

PARIS — After building an eight-point lead in the first frame, Oxford Hills stayed in high gear and cruised to a 59-30 rout over Mt. Blue in a girls’ basketball tilt Wednesday. 

Tianna Sugars led the Vikings (7-3) with a game-high 19 points, while Erin Morton chipped in with 15. Eryn Doiron paced the Cougars (3-6) with 12.

Buckfield 28, Pine Tree 24

BUCKFIELD — Alexis Bennett poured in 10 points onWednesday to lead Buckfield to a narrow 28-24 win over Pine Tree Academy.

Kali Litchfield chipped in for the Bucks (4-8) with seven points. Pine Tree (6-3) was led by Alexandra Goodman with seven.  

Girls’ hockey

Leavitt/EL/Poland 3, Brunswick 3 (OT)

TURNER — Angel Drouin led a trio of players to find the net Wednesday as Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland skated to a 3-3 overtime tie with Brunswick in a girls’ hockey matchup.

Haley Frohlich and Madison DeRosa also tallied for the Red Hornets (7-5-3) in a solid offensive effort. Rayna Sage, Jenna Brooks and Tessa Cassidy all netted goals for the Dragons (7-5-1) in a hard-fought battle. 

St. Dom’s 7, Mt. Ararat/Morse 0

BRUNSWICK — Isabelle Frenette netted a pair of goals Wednesday as St. Dom’s outgunned Mt. Ararat/Morse, 7-0, in girls’ hockey. 

Kallie Samson, Emma Therriault, Lexi Kesaris, Christina Cornelio and Bugsy Hammerton also tallied for the Saints (10-1). Payton Winslow turned aside 15 shots to preserve the shutout.
