WINDHAM — Sadie Nelson scored her 1,000th career point as Windham sprinted to a fourth-quarter win over Edward Little, 47-42, in girls’ basketball action Monday evening.

The Eagles (7-6) trailed by one at the end of three, but went on a 15-9 run in the final frame for the win. Junior forward Tara Flanders scored a team-high 14 points for Windham.

Junior center Jordyn Reynolds recorded a game-high 16 points for the Red Eddies, while senior guard Emily Jacques contributed 14 points for Edward Little in the losing effort.

Lake Region 52, Poland 50

POLAND — Sophomore forward Lauren Jacobs drained 18 points as Lake Region squeezed by with a 52-50 victory over Poland in girls’ basketball action Monday evening.

The Lakers (9-3) led by 10 at the end of three quarters. But, the Knights (5-8) rallied back to within one inside of a minute in regulation.

Melody Millett hit one of her five fould shots to give Lake Region a two-point cushion and the eventual win. Kristen Huntress contributed 15 points for the Lakers.

Sophomore guard Natalie Theriault led Poland with 12 points in the losing effort.

Hampden Academy 45, Mt. Blue 42

BANGOR — The narrow four-point advantage it built in the first frame was just enough, as Hampden hung on to post a 45-42 victory over Mt. Blue in a girls’ baskteball tilt Monday.

Peyton Smith led Hampden (8-4) with 13 points, while Brooklyn Scott tallied nine and Bailey Donovan added six.

The Cougars (3-7) were paced by Eryn Doiron with a solid 12-point performance, while Caitlin Kane and Mackenzie Harris chipped in with seven.

Carrabec 39, St. Dom’s 33

NORTH ANSON — Carrabec used a 16-9 run in the final frame Monday to pull away for a 39-33 victory over St. Dom’s in a girls’ basketball matchup.

Mickayla Willette led the Cobras (8-5) with 17 points, while Kate Stevens chipped in with 10.

Riliegh Stebbins and Allie Veinote paced the Saints (6-7) with 10 points apiece, while Abby Castonguay tallied seven.

Cheverus 65, Lewiston 59

PORTLAND — After trailing by four points in the first quarter, Cheverus used an 24-18 run in the second to take control and hustled to post a 65-59 win over Lewiston in more Class A South girls’ basketball action Monday.

Alayna Briggs led a group of three players in double figures for the Stags (8-5) with 16 points, while Kaylin Malmquist chipped in with 13. Abby Cavallaro and Emme Poulin each contributed with 11 points, while Deidre Sanborn added 10.

The Blue Devils (6-7) were paced by Kristina Blais with a game-high 19 points, while Victoria Harris talled 15 and Gabrielle Wilson added 12 in a well-balanced attack.

Boys’ basketball

Cheverus 66, Lewiston 54

LEWISTON — Jesse Matthews led a group of five players in double figues Monday as Cheverus hustled to a 66-54 win over Lewiston in Class AA North boys’ basketball action.

Matthews finished with 17 points to lead the Stags (8-4), while Dominic Tasale chipped in with 14. Jack Tasale lit the board for 12 points, while Austin Boudreau and Andrew Roberts each added 10.

Abdinasir Issack paced the Blue Devils (2-11) with 22 points, highlighted by six shots from beyond the arc. Salat Hussein chipped in with 15 points in a well-balanced attack.

Greely 79, Gray-New Gloucester 39

GRAY — Jordan Bagshaw scored an impressive 23 points to lead Greely to a 79-39 triumph over Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ basketball action Monday evening.

The Rangers led 40-16 at the half. Ryan Twitchell netted 14 points, while Matt McDevitt added another 12 points for Greely.

John Martin led the Patriots with seven points in the losing effort.

Girls’ hockey

St. Dom’s 7, Winslow 0

AUBURN — Bugsy Hammerton and Tia Rotolico each found the net twice as St. Dom’s skated past Winslow 7-0 in a girls’ hockey matchup Monday.

Kristina Cornelio, Lexie Kesaris and Isabelle Frenette also tallied for the Saints (12-1) to complete the scoring. Katya Fons also contributed with a pair of assists, while Avery Lutryzkowski and Callie Samson also provided assists.

Payton Winslow was rock-solid between the pipes for St. Dom’s to notch the shutout, while Kiana Richards handled netkeeping duties for Winslow.

Greely 5, Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 1

FALMOUTH — Courtney Sullivan and Danita Storey each netted a pair of goals Monday as Greely overpowered Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 5-1 in more local girls’ hockey action.

Emilee McGillicuddy also tallied for the undefeated Rangers (14-0) to complete the scoring. Corinne Laberge scored for the Blue Devils (8-4-1) early in the first period.

Nica Todd stopped 19 of 20 shots for Greely, while Meagan Gosselin turned aside 53 of 58 shots between the pipes for Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill.

Boys’ hockey

St. Dom’s 5, Biddeford 3

BIDDEFORD — Senior defenseman Isaac LaPointe netted a pair of goals as St. Dom’s grabbed a 5-3 victory over Biddeford in boys’ ice hockey action Monday evening.

The Saints (5-5) led by three before Logan Magnant put the Tigers on the board in the second period.

Freshman Reese Farrell scored a goal and two assists for the Saints.

Goalie Tom Greene made 29 saves for Biddeford, while goalie Kyle Welsh prevented 28 to earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.

Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 9, Lawrence/Skowhegan 4

AUBURN — Bradley Boulet had two goals to lead the Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse Eagles to a 9-4 victory over the Lawrence/Skowhegan Bandits on Monday afternoon at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

Sam Alexander and Mark Abreu each had a goal and two assists for the Eagles (5-4). Austin Fournier, Ryley Austin, Nick Austin, Tyler Halls and Tyler Lacascio all tallied a goal.

The Bandits’ (1-8) goals came from Brady Martin, Sean Savage, Sam Craig and Alex Paul.

Parker Lacey made 18 saves for the victory.
