WATERVILLE (AP) — Waterville and Colby College officials are considering a plan to build a dormitory in the heart of the city to help revitalize the downtown.
The Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1SvSJop ) reported the Waterville City Council voted 6-0 Tuesday to authorize City Manager Michael Roy to begin talks with the college to sell a city-owned lot on Main Street. The lot is occupied by a farmers market in the summer.
The City Council also voted unanimously to spend up to $35,000 to hire a consultant to study traffic and parking issues. Colby and the state Department of Transportation would pay for the study.
The college has bought several vacant downtown buildings and is seeking investors to develop the properties.
