NAPLES — The driver of an oil delivery tanker truck that crashed Wednesday afternoon on Harrison Road was reported in stable condition.

James Sherbert, 65, of New Hampshire lost control of the Pit Stop Fuels oil delivery truck he was driving at about 1:42 p.m. because of a shifting load and wintry road conditions, authorities wrote in a statement. The truck was carrying roughly 1,000 gallons of No. 2 home heating fuel.

The truck left the road and struck an oak tree and rolled over. Sherbert was thrown through the windshield, according to a release from Cumberland County Sheriff”s Department Capt. Donald Goulet.

Sherbert was taken to Bridgton Hospital in serious but stable condition with “apparent fractures and abrasions,” Goulet wrote.

There was no “significant” leaking from the truck, according to Goulet.
