Rangeley 50, NYA 43

RANGELEY — Kyle LaRochelle sparked a 19-5 run in the second quarter that allowed Rangeley to pull away for a key 50-43 win over North Yarmouth Adademy on Tuesday night. 

LaRochelle scored six of his eight points in that frame. Ricky Thompson led the Lakers (6-11) with 18 points, while Devon Clark chipped in 12 and Carl Trafton added 10. 

The Clippers (4-13) were paced by Jake Malcom with 28 points, while Chandler Waldron added 10. 

Skowhegan 48, Mt. Blue 40

SKOWHEGAN — A slight advantage during the first and third frames Tuesday was just enough for Skowhegan, as they snuck past Mt. Blue with a 48-40 boys’ basketball win.

Cam Barnes led the Indians (8-9) with 16 points, while Nick Sweeney chipped in nine. Zach Mittelstadt paced the Cougars (3-14) with 16 points, while Evan Backus added six.  

Freeport 64, Gray-New Gloucester 60

GRAY — Nate Pelletier compiled a team-high 22 points to lead Freeport to a 64-60 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Falcons went on a 24-12 run in the second quarter for a 30-23 lead at halftime. Jack Davenport contributed 16 points for Freeport.

Zack Haskell scored a team-leading 22 points for the Patriots, while Kyle Keenan tossed in 15.

Wells 49, Poland 41

POLAND — Junior forward DeAndre Woods notched a team-high 15 points as Wells pushed past Poland, 49-41, in boys’ basketball Tuesday evening.

The Warriors (9-7) took a five-point lead in the first quarter and nursed it throughout. Tyler Dewey dropped in 11 points for Wells.

Junior forward John Fossett collected a team-leading 15 points for the Knights (7-10).

Spruce Mountain 59, Leavitt 54

TURNER — Caulin Parker pounded out 22 points as Spruce Mountain seized a 59-54 victory over Leavitt in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

Spruce Mountain (10-7) rallied from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Mason Shink added 13 points and Brandon Anctil 12 for the Phoenix.

Max Green led Leavitt (2-15) with 16 points. Levi Craig chipped in 10.

Girls’ basketball

Monmouth 62, Telstar 29

MONMOUTH — After trailing by six points at the end of the first quarter, Monmouth went on a 32-5 tear in the second and trounced Telstar, 62-29, in MVC girls’ basketball tilt Tuesday. 

Hannah Anderson and Abbey Allen led the Mustangs (15-2) with 11 points each, while Tia Day and Maddie Amero added 10 apiece. Becca Howard led the Rebels (0-17) with 23 points.

Rangeley 78, NYA 26

RANGELEY — Rangeley raced to a 43-7 lead at halftime and cruised to a 78-26 victory over North Yarmouth Academy in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

Blayke Morin led the charge for the Lakers (16-1), scoring 28 points, 14 of which came from the free-throw line. She also pulled down eight rebounds. Teammate Amelia McMillan helped with 18 points and seven rebounds. Natasha Haley was credited with five steals.

NYA (1-16) was held to single-digit scoring for three quarters. Maggie Ronson scored a team-high nine points.

Boothbay 61, Winthrop 14

WINTHROP — Page Brown scored a game-high 18 points to lead Boothbay to a crushing 61-14 victory over Winthrop in MVC girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Seahawks (16-1) jumped out to a 36-11 halftime lead. Faith Blethen contributed 16 points, while Hannah Morley added 10.

Katie Perkins posted a team-high five points for the Ramblers (2-15).

Lisbon 43, Oak Hill 32

LISBON — Jasmin Le recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as Lisbon trotted to a 43-32 victory over Oak Hill in MVC girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Greyhounds (7-10) packaged 16-8 runs in both the first and fourth quarters. Kaylin Le contributed 10 points for Lisbon.

Abby Nadeau led the Raiders with nine points.

Lewiston 40, Brunswick 28

LEWISTON — Sophomore forward Victoria Harris posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds as Lewiston fastened down a 40-28 victory over Brunswick in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Blue Devils (9-8), who tentatively moved themselves into a Class AA tournament position with the win, came out strong in the first quarter, building a 15-7 margin.

Morgan Eliasen contributed a team-high 11 points for Lewiston. Aidan Sachs scored a game-high 12 points for Brunswick, while Sabrina Armstrong contributed 11.

Gray-New Gloucester 53, Freeport 39

GRAY — Junior center Skye Conley poured in a game-high 16 points as Gray-New Gloucester cruised to a 53-39 victory over Freeport in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Patriots (13-4) went on a 12-2 tear in the second half to take an 11-point halftime lead. Alanna Camerl scored five points and tabulated 10 rebounds for Gray-New Gloucester.

Sophomore forward Jessie Driscoll and junior guard Regan Lynch netted a shared team-high 11 points for the Falcons (9-8) in the losing effort.

Dirigo 52, Mt. Abram 39

DIXFIELD — Olivia Noyes notched 13 points and 10 rebounds as Dirigo assembled a 52-39 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Cougars (12-5) turned up the tempo in the second half after trailing early. Sabrina Daoud contributed 12 points for Dirigo.

The Roadrunners (5-12) took an early 17-14 lead but ran out of steam. Mt. Abram could not post in double digits for the remaining three frames.

Lewiston 40, Leavitt 30

LEWISTON — The Blue Devils raced out to a big, early lead and held off a hard-charging Leavitt squad the rest of the way Tuesday to secure a 40-30 win in unified basketball action.

Conner Jewett and Caleb Beaupre shared top-scoring honors with 10 each for Lewiston (4-0). Nate Peterson led the Hornets (0-2) with eight.

Men’s basketball

Bates 91, UMaine-Farmington 71

FARMINGTON — Mike Boorazian scored a game-high 20 points as four starters registered double figures for Bates in a 91-71 triumph over the University of Maine at Farmington in men’s basketball action Tuesday evening.

Bates tied a school record with 19 3-pointers.

Josh Britten followed Boornazian with 14 points and sank four attempts from beyond the arc. Shawn Strickland and Malcolm Delpeche tallied 11 points apiece for the Bobcats (10-10).

Ryan Camire tied a career-high with 16 points for Farmington. Alan Young of Poland also tied a career-high as three Beavers (2-10) finished with 10 points. Nick Hilton of Wilton and Eric Berry of Weld rounded out the trio of 10-point scorers.
