Fun for kids and adults at WMPM

WILTON — Western Maine Play Museum will be entertaining not just children, but adults, too.

Paint N Sip, which will benefit the museum, is set for Saturday, Feb. 27, at Marco’s in Lewiston. Participants can create their own work of art while sipping wine and enjoying friendship. A cash bar will feature appetizers and beverages.

WMPM will have a sneak preview of one of its new exhibits in March. The Wilton Free Public Library offered to be a venue after the Franklin County Children’s Task Force cancelled its Feb. 13 event. The preview will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23. In the Dark Room, kids can play with “black” lights.

BRIDGTON — Loon Echo Land Trust has announceed the recipients of its 2016 Environmental Educational Grant Program. Loon Echo has awarded small grants to the Naples Public Library, Bridgton Public Library, Casco Public Library and Harrison Village Library, as well as the Sebago and Harrison elementary schools.

Every year, schools and libraries in Loon Echo’s service area of Denmark, Bridgton, Harrison, Naples, Casco, Raymond and Sebago are invited to submit grant applications to Loon Echo for environmental programs. These awards will help Lake Region children learn about the environment and the importance of protecting our region’s land and natural resources.

This year the schools and libraries are using their grants for programs including wildlife, natural history, water resources and the creation of a “junior naturalist” backpack program. The students will come away with a better understanding of their natural world while having fun through the learning process.
