Because of the hardships and privations that Henry Dickerson, wife and six children were compelled to undergo at Durham, he left Shiloh and the Holy Ghost and Us Society, Saturday, and moved to Pejepscot, where he has rented a house and where he has a job in the mills. This act was hastened by the fact that few days ago, the elders of the colony came to his house and took away his cookstove, substituting for it an old one in which it was impossible to build a fire. At the time this happened, Mrs. Dickerson was sick and it was necessary that she be kept in a warm place. Dickerson, who was formerly a well-paid painter in Boston was induced to join the society six years ago by Rev. Frank Sanford, who is serving a term in the penitentiary at Atlanta. At that time Dickerson was given a farm on the Hilltop and until the ascension of John Sanford, the son of the “Modern Elijah,” he has prospered. Since then he has had a great deal of trouble. Mr. Dickerson and his family and household goods were moved from the colony, Saturday, by several neighboring farmers who are not Shilohites.

Snow removal operations in Lewiston — just since the last big snowstorm two weeks ago, covered an area of some 33 curb miles, Public Works Director William Adams Jr. noted today. Just this operation alone measured some 12 curb miles. The amount of snow picked up from city streets and sidewalks this winter is staggering, and easily evident by a look at some of the city’s snow-dumps, which are considered pretty full right now.
