PORTLAND – A Lewiston man described as the leader of a drug distribution network was sent to prison Thursday for 14 years.

Romelly “Marcus” Dastinot, 35, was sentenced to federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, heroin and oxycodone.

According to court records, between 2012 and 2014 Dastinot was the leader of a drug trafficking organization that transported crack, heroin and oxycodone from Massachusetts to Androscoggin County for distribution. Twelve co-defendants have already been sentenced in this investigation. Three other co-defendants await sentencing.

Dastinot was among those arrested in a drug sweep in May 2014 when officers from multiple local, state and federal agencies served search warrants at three locations in Lewiston.

Police seized drugs, guns and at least one vehicle in the raids, which involved agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Customs Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Maine State Police, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Lewiston and Auburn police.
