ROXBURY — A woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck Saturday morning while walking on Route 17, according to an Oxford County Sheriff’s Office news release. 

Pedestrian Cailin Currivan, 26, of Rumford was killed when a truck operated by Kyle Kennedy, 22, of Rumford struck her at 3:43 a.m. near the Byron town line, according to Oxford County deputies.

Kennedy was arrested and charged with operating under the influence.

According to the news release, Route 17 was closed for several hours Saturday morning while law enforcement investigated and reconstructed the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and an accident reconstruction trooper from the Maine State Police. 

A case will be presented to the Oxford County District Attorney for review.

Roxbury and Mexico fire departments and Med-Care Ambulance responded to the scene.
