GRAY — SAD 15 Superintendent Bruce Beasley will leave his post at the end of the school year when his contract expires.

He has accepted the superintendent’s job at SAU 7, serving the towns of Colebrook, Clarksville, Columbia, Pittsburg and Stewartstown, N.H.

A veteran educator, Beasley has been with SAD 15 for the past 17 years beginning as assistant principal at the Dunn Elementary School in New Gloucester. He has been superintendent for the past five years.

“The parents and students have made these some of the best years of my life,” he said by telephone Friday.

The district has about 2,000 students from Gray and New Gloucester.

During his tenure, he credits the district with changes to the student-centered learning environment with proficiency-based work, including the common core mandate.

Wellness outdoor education has also served as a unique program for students and staff through the help of a PEP grant aimed to create a positive culture and climate that is proactive and powerful. Program development has moved in a positive direction to benefit students and staff, he said.

Beasley also credited and thanked the community for supporting the return of the school resource officer to the Gray-New Gloucester middle and high schools.
