AUBURN — Central Maine Medical Center is set to open its first urgent care facility Monday, March 21, at 593 Center St.

It’s officially named CMMC Urgent Care. There will be a public ribbon cutting and open house at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 10. Emceed by the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature speeches from local dignitaries as well a presentation by Central Maine Healthcare executives.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, CMMC Urgent Care will offer refreshments, giveaways and tours of the facility. The public is invited to attend.

CMMC Urgent Care is a walk-in clinic that will provide care for patients of all ages without need of an appointment. The facility will treat injuries and mild illness requiring immediate care, but not serious enough for a visit to the emergency room.

CMMC officials said in a statement that the clinic’s objective is to provide expert care for unexpected health care needs — as quickly and conveniently as possible for the patient.

All of the CMMC Urgent Care providers are emergency-department trained and highly qualified to treat medical issues common in an urgent care setting. Open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the clinic will accept most forms of insurance, including MaineCare.

CMMC Urgent Care providers will be treating broken bones, minor illness, infections, cuts and bruises. They will also provide stitches, x-ray services, lab services and sports physicals. For more information, visit www.cmmc.org/urgent or call 207-795-2478.
