SAN DIEGO (WGME) — Bumble Bee Foods is voluntarily recalling more than 31,000 cases of canned chunk light tuna because they may have spoiled.
The company says during the sterilization process, there were deviations that “could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens.”
Bumble Bee says serious illnesses could result for anyone who eats spoiled tuna.
The nationwide recall affects 31,579 cases, which have one of three UPC codes that start with “T.”
Those codes and best-by dates can be found on the Bumble Bee website.
Bumble Bee says there haven’t been any reports of illness associated with the recalled tuna yet.
Anyone who bought one of the recalled tuna cans should throw them away and contact Bumble Bee for a refund.
