1935 – 2016

AUBURN — Joanne S. West, 81, of West Paris died early Friday morning, March 18, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born on March 1, 1935, in Bethel, a daughter of Joseph and Helen (Stevens) Baker. She attended local schools and graduated from Gould Academy.

Joanne worked for many years as a sales clerk at the JJ Newbury store on Main Street in Norway.

She loved playing bingo and would play anywhere, anytime. She also enjoyed watching television and reading.

Joanne leaves behind her children, David Rugg of Florida, Debra Kasevich of Norway, Randall Rugg of Florida, Penny Creamons of Florida, Dean Strout of Otisfield and Scott Strout of Otisfield; stepchildren, Reggie and Dale Strout, both of Lewiston; siblings, Raymond Baker of Oxford, Yvonne Simoneau and Christine Davis of South Paris; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde West; a sister, Annette Baker; and a grandson, Brian Mize.
