Attendees can set sail with Marlin Darrah on a journey to many of Southeast Asia’s most intriguing and alluring countries. The voyage begins in Hong Kong and travels south to several locations in Vietnam: the back streets of old Hanoi, the dramatic beauty of the ancient karst limestone mountains rising out of Ha Long Bay, the temples and markets of Nha Trang, and to Saigon, the dynamic and bustling city on the Mekong.
Next are highlights of Angkor Wat. This 1,000-year-old marvel is the largest complex of religious temples in the world. From the ancient to the ultra-modern, the journey continues to the grand trading city of Singapore, an exotic name for a 21st century metropolis of commerce and fine dining. Indonesia is next with an exploration of the fabled Spice Islands of Ternate and Tidore, the dream of Magellan and other European explorers 500 years ago. Then the island of Bali, with its beautifully terraced rice fields bordered by villages of artists, musicians and dancers. The journey continues to the island of Java, through the sea of humanity on the streets of Jakarta, the capital city. And then to the Thai paradise isles of Similan, Ko Phi Phi, Phuket and Phang Nga Bay. Also included is a brief look at exotic Thailand, “The Land of Smiles.”
