MEXICO — River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition invites Oxford County residents to a community forum on heroin and other opiates from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Mountain Valley Middle School.
Executive Director Patricia Duguay said “too many people in northern Oxford County are seeking treatment for opiate addiction” and “too many arrests must be made for drug trafficking and other related crimes.”
“We are coming together in Maine and in the River Valley area to have a public conversation about heroin and opiate use and the impacts it’s having on our communities,” Duguay said.
The community forum is being sponsored by the coalition and Maine Opioid Collaborative.
Duguay said it will begin with a “short panel presentation from professionals in law enforcement, emergency responders, treatment, recovery and prevention/harm reduction about what’s happening in the River Valley area and around the region.”
The results from the forum will be shared with the Maine Opioid Collaborative task forces to help inform their recommendations for federal, state and local actions that will support a better future for all Maine citizens.
For more information or to RSVP, contact Duguay at 207-364-7408 or [email protected].
