DURHAM — Voters on Friday defeated a proposal to withdraw from Regional School Unit 5, 259-595.

The proposal included spending $50,000 for the effort.

For the annual election of town officers Friday, voters re-elected Selectmen Mark Blake and Jeffrey Wakeman to three-year terms. They received 388 and 500 votes, respectively.

Challengers Wade Kaplinger and Max Harvey had 217 and 121 votes, respectively.

Kevin Nadeau was re-elected to the Budget Committee with 671 votes. Two other openings were filled with write-ins for Mark Sarrin, 62 votes, and Rick Emmons, 57 votes. All terms are for three years.

Michelle Ritcheson was unopposed in her bid for re-election to the school board. She received 650 votes for another three-year term.

The annual town meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Community School.
