100 years ago, 1916
The Livermore Falls Board of Trade have been making efforts for some time for the location of new industries in town, Z. A. Mersereau was in Massachusetts last week to confer with the proprietors of several shoe manufactories and met two parties who would consider coming to the town if satisfactory terms could be arranged. A meeting of the citizens was held Wednesday evening with a large and enthusiastic attendance. The court room where the meeting was appointed was unable to hold them and Mr. Mason, the proprietor of Dreamland Theatre, gave up the Theatre for the meeting.

50 years ago, 1966
Chief Deputy Rosaire J. Martel of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department reported Wednesday that more than 90 collections of junked cars and other accumulations of junk were spotted between the county building and Livermore Falls on Route 4. On Thursday two cruiser cars will be placed in service by Martel to tour other county roads for views of junk piles. As a result of the trip to Livermore Falls on Wednesday by Chief Martel and Deputy Ernest Ouellette, deputies will call at each of the places and give the property owners some copies of the statutes pertaining to junk accumulations.

25 years ago, 1991
The mood was up-beat Wednesday as public works crews began distributing bright blue recycling bins to residents. “People were coming out and chatting with us” in the Ware Street area, said Carol Roy, operations manager for the recycling program. Curbside pickup is set to begin May 6 for single-family homes and buildings with four or fewer apartments. “One woman came out in her bathrobe” to get her container notwithstanding the drizzle, Roy said. “They’re really excited.”
