AUBURN — Auburn Public Library has announced its teen programming for May. 

Discover NASA: From Our Town to Outer Space (FOTOS): Now through July 8. A national traveling exhibition, which offers an inside look at NASA, America’s space agency. This exhibit includes stunning imagery, hands-on activities and multimedia experiences such as a near real-time kiosk called Eyes on Exoplanets, an immersive experience of astronauts living on board the International Space Station.

Tweens in the Teen Space: Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25, in the Teen Space. Sixth graders can join the Teen Space on half-day Wednesdays for crafts, board games, get a head start on homework or just hang out with friends.

Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens, 12 to 18, can get animated over anime when they discuss manga, watch the week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing characters. This program was made possible by the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Snacks will be provided.

Teens! Snack Chat: 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays, May 9 and 23, in the Teen Space. Teens, 12 to 18, will eat a healthy snack and engage in conversation about current events. This program is provided by support from Jim Pittman.

Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, May 11 and 27, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens, 12 to 18, can take a break from studying for video games and snacks. The library has an XBox, Wii and a small collection of games. Teens are welcome to bring their favorites, but only those rated T and E. This program was made possible by donations from the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.

Teens! Safe Voices: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the Teen Space. Teens, ages 12 to 18, can meet Julia from Safe Voices when she will chat about relationships and work on craft projects. 

Teens! Friday @ the Movies: 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 13, in the Androscoggin Community Room. In keeping with the space FOTO theme, teens, ages 12 to 18, can see “Gravity” starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. There will be popcorn and candy.

Maine Job Corps: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, in the Conference Room. Teens and new adults can talk to Jill Moody of the Maine Job Corps about how the program works and who is eligible.

DIY Teens! Takeover: Build Your Own Refracting Telescope: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, the Androscoggin Community Room. With the NASA Exhibit, this month’s DIY will give teens the opportunity to learn about lenses, optics and how telescopes work. Before leaving, teens will have built their own refracting telescope similar to one Galileo Galilei used to observe the moons of Jupiter. This program is just for teens, ages 12-18, and will be presented by Nicole Hastings, of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Bates College. Registration is required. 

Teens! Flashback Friday: 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Teen Space. The program will feature childhood activities, including Play Doh, puzzles and Candyland.This program is just for teens, ages 12 to 18.

DIY Teens! Media Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, in the CREATE! Media Lab. If teens, ages 12 to 18, can imagine it, they can create it in the media lab that the library might post on its website.

Bates College Student Astrophotography Exhibit: 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Bates College students will present their final class projects for their short term course “Finding Your Place in the Universe” to the public. Each student will display their photos of the skies and teach the public about the science we can learn from their images. This program is open to all ages.

Teens! SAPARS Visit: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 26, in the Teen Space. Molly from the Sexual Assault Crisis Center will drop by for crafts, games and good conversations with teens, ages 12-18.
