PERU — A 63-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when a tree he was cutting down struck and killed him, according to Oxford County Chief Deputy Hart Daley.
Stephen Fuller of Greenwoods Road, Peru, was cutting firewood on his property when the tree he was working on kicked back and struck him.
“He was wearing safety gear, too,” Daley said. “It was just a tragic accident.”
The death was ruled as not suspicious. “It was bizarre but simple,” Daley said.
He said Fuller was dead when police arrived at the scene at 8:37 a.m. The time of death was estimated at between 7 and 8:30 a.m.
