LEWISTON — The Maine Association for Infant Mental Health will hold its 29th annual conference, “Supporting Security and Attachments in Everyday Moments for a Lifetime of Promise” from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Carriage House, 1119 Lisbon St.
The conference will feature Charlie Slaughter, MPH, RD, who is a trainer for Circle of Security Parenting and author of the book “Hungry for Love.”
The morning presentation will focus on an overview of the Circle of Security Parenting, a relationship-based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children. The afternoon will continue the discussion of attachment as being a reflection of the quality of the parent-child relationship. Slaughter will use the mealtime environment to demonstrate how parents can create an opportunity to build a stronger, safer and more secure relationship with their child. He will present a perspective of how a mealtime environment can build various capacities (curiosity, self-regulation, use of power and perseverance) that children need to thrive in life.
Preregistration is required by Sunday, May 8, at www.infantmentalhealth.org.
