RANGELEY — The Rangeley Friends of the Arts, in partnership with the Westerhoff School of Music of Metuchen, N.J., will offer The Westerhoff/RFA Music Camp.
The weeklong day camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8-12, and is for students ages 8-18.
The camp offers participants the chance to learn from music teachers who have a proven ability to work with youths. Activities will alternate between individual instruction, practice and performance, to group lessons, music-making and musicianship classes.
Campers will learn to play music with others, write music and advance their individual skills. Each day will include group singing and a noontime outdoor recreational period. On Friday, campers will showcase all they have learned in a performance for family and friends.
Applicants should have six months of experience playing an instrument or studying voice, or singing in a group setting such as chorus or choir. Students with no previous musical experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered on an individual basis.
The camp is limited to 20 students maximum, working both individually and in small and large groups. The deadline to apply is May 20; early registration is recommended to ensure placement.
