1929 – 2016
PARIS — Reginald “Mike” W. Record passed away on May 2 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in South Paris, after a brief illness.
Mike was born in Portland on May 17, 1929, the son of Carlton and Bernice (Thurlow) Record. On June 23, 1950, Mike married Ethlyn “Bunny” Robinson of Norway.
Mike graduated from South Paris High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. After discharge, he worked at the A & P in Norway and then for many years at Smith’s Shop ‘n Save in South Paris.
After retirement, Mike and Bunny traveled a great deal and wintered in Arizona for 25 years. He enjoyed all sports, gardening, hunting, fishing and his several faithful dogs.
Mike is survived by his son, Thomas and daughter-in-law, Vicki of Farmingdale; grandson, Michael of Waterville; granddaughter, Kristen of Portland; sisters-in-law, Nancy Robinson of South Paris and Madeline Robinson of Auburn; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and by a special friend, Betty Morris of Norway.
He was predeceased by his parents; and three sisters, Dorothy Slattery of Waterford, Conn., Elinor Huotari of Fayette and Virginia Milton of Mechanic Falls.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Maine Veteran’s Home for their care of dad, and friendship and support to the family. They are much appreciated.
