Barbara Mezel of Oxford browses the pottery table at the 12th annual Trinity Jubilee’s Empty Bowl Dinner on Sunday. The event is the largest fundraiser for the Center and features food from 14 local restaurants. Guests are encouraged to purchase pottery donated by The Potter’s House, Edgecomb Potters, Carrie White, Pottery by Celia, Georgetown Pottery, Saltbox Pottery, and students at Maine College of Art, Bates College and Saint Dominic Academy. While the idea behind the Empty Bowls Dinner is that the meal would be served in the purchased bowls, the event has gotten too popular to accommodate those logistics. The meal was provided by Marché, Gipper’s Sports Grill, Hurricane’s Café & Deli, Marco’s Italian Restaurante, She Doesn’t Like Guthrie’s, Wei Li, DaVinci’s Eatery and Sedgley Place as well as breads from Forage Market, the Italian Bakery, and Grant’s Bakery. Dessert was provided by from Subway, Governor’s Restaurant, and Sam’s Italian Restaurant. Proceeds from the event will help fund Trinity Jubliee Center’s summer programs and free breakfasts and lunches for local children in need.
