TURNER — A man from Gray was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on crash at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Route 4 between Route 117 and Mancine Road, police said.
Leon Beaulieu, 73, of Gray was pronounced dead Tuesday evening after a collision on Route 4 in Turner. Beaulieu was traveling south on Route 4 when his 1994 Dodge Ram van crossed the centerline into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Benjamin Ouellette, 35, of Greene, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
Ouellette was taken to Central Maine Medical Center by Turner Rescue with serious injuries. Both men had to be extricated from their vehicles, Chief Deputy William Gagne said.
He said the road was closed late into Tuesday night for continuing investigations by the Sheriff’s Office and a crash reconstructionist from the Lewiston Police Department.
