OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Gavin Arsenault struck out 15 batters, gave up four hits and didn’t give up a walk as Dirigo dropped Old Orchard Beach, 7-2, in a Class C South preliminary baseball Tuesday.
The Cougars will face Monmouth Academy on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
It was a 1-1 tie game through three innings before the Couars (11-6) scored two in the fourth and four in the seventh inning.
Riley Robinson and Mason Corriveau doubled for Dirigo, while OOB’s (8-9) Thomas Frezeau also doubled. Arsenault and Corriveau were the only repeat hitters with two apiece. Gus Brown scored the go-head run on Chase Theberge’s suicide squeeze bunt in the fifth inning for the Cougars.
