OAKLAND — Grace Beaudet singled in the only run Edward Little would need as the Red Eddies stunned Messalonskee 1-0 in softball action Saturday afternoon.
Kylie Bureau led off the second inning for the Red Eddies (13-5) with a single to right field that got by the right fielder and allowed her to reach third base. Bureau scored on Beaudet’s single.
The Eagles (16-1-1) loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth inning with a walk and two hits. But Bureau caught a line drive by Makenzie Charest to end the threat.
Sarah Hammond allowed four hits, two walks and struck out one for Edward Little, while Kristen Pelletier only permitted two hits, no walks and struck out nine for Messalonskee.
Defense played a large role for the Red Eddies as center fielder Olivia Jensen ran down four fly balls to keep the Eagles off the bases in the winning effort.
York 2, Oak Hill 0
YORK — Stephanie Rundlett struck out 19 and allowed only one hit to lead York to a 2-0 victory over Oak Hill in a Class B South semifinal.
Elise Holly scored the game-winning run in the third inning while Wendy Donnell scored on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning.
Kelsey Cole had two of York’s (17-1) six hits while Emma Hlister had the Raiders (15-3) lone hit.
Buckfield 3, Vinalhaven 2
ROCKLAND — Julia Dow was able to get out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh inning with runners on second and third as Buckfield defeated Vinalhaven-North Haven, 3-2 Saturday in a Class D South semifinal.
The Bucks (15-3) turned three double plays on the day.
Brianna Damon had a triple and Abby Shields had a one-run double in the second inning. The Bucks also scored in the fourth and sixth inning.
Ashlyn Littlefield had three hits and an RBI in the third inning for Vinalhaven-North Haven (10-5). They scored their second run in the fourth with a RBI single from Hannah Ames.
