LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 73 board expelled a student last week after an executive session.
Superintendent Kenneth Healey declined to disclosed the nature of the infraction. He said the student will be evaluated by school psychologist Nick Rehagan, and a school re-entry plan devised.
Also at Thursday’s meeting, Healey said student enrollment as of April 1 was 1,489, down slightly from 1,500 in October.
Other announcements included:
• About $150,000 in scholarships were given to Spruce Mountain High School seniors at last week’s graduation;
• Spruce Mountain Middle School Principal Scott Albert said students of the month are: sixth grade, Eben Farmer and Paris Howes; seventh grade, Riley Legere and Emily Baker; and eighth grade, Nathan Stearns and Kayley Langlin;
• Summer school will begin in July with instructors Jan Kirkland, Bernadette Bessey, Jeanie Rackliff, Amy Soper, Jason Wyman, Diane Maurais and Faith Healey;
• The last day of school is Wednesday for students (an entire day) and Thursday for teachers.
• Jeremy Gath and Kyle McLellan were hired as social studies teachers at Spruce Mountain High School; and
• The Spruce Mountain state champion Envirothon team, which made a presentation to the board, was approved to attend the North American Envirothon at Trent University in Ontario, Canada, later this summer.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. June 23 at the Central Office in Livermore Falls.
