PARIS — Business owner Scott Buffington and self-employed electrician Chris Summers will be the next members on the Board of Selectmen, beating Rick Little in balloting Tuesday.
The terms are for three years.
Buffington received 562 votes, Summers garnered 508 and Little had 391, Town Clerk Liz Knox said.
“I was pleased with the voter turnout, Buffington said. “I was told there was almost a 1,000 votes cast, which is a real high turnout.”
Knox said 917 voters cast ballots at the polls and 59 cast absentee ballots.
Buffington noted the strong support for maintaining the Paris Police Department by a 2-to-1 margin Tuesday.
“I think Skip Mowatt leading the department is a good thing and he knows the importance of the affordable budget,” Buffington said.
Mowatt is interim police chief.
Buffington said the town has to remain competitive and fiscally responsible. “We still have to scrutinize all the other departments and all the other budgets and limit the spending of Paris PD. I look forward to working with the other board members to achieve this.”
Summers could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
Bob Jewell was re-elected to the SAD 17 board of directors for three years. He ran unopposed and received 781 votes.
Garrick Frost was re-elected as a Paris Utility District trustee. He ran unopposed and garnered 779 votes.
Voters approved updating the Sign Ordinance by a vote of 480–362.
