MECHANIC FALLS — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested three Friday night on charges stemming from an alleged methamphetamine manufacturing operation, Supervisor Matt Cashman said Saturday.

Police arrested James Ludlow, 41, of 26 Baril St., Lewiston; Kimberly Lothrop, 25, of 292 Blue Road, Monmouth; and Daniel Kelly, 45, of 640 Pigeon Hill Road, Mechanic Falls.

All three were arrested on charges of unlawful operation of a methamphetamine lab and conspiracy to commit operation of a meth lab.

The arrests are part of ongoing investigations into Maine’s meth distrubution system. More arrests could be coming, he said.

“There will be further investigation, and there are other people being interviewed that are involved in this,” he said. “It started in Lewiston and culminated in the arrests in Mechanic Falls, with the assistance of Mechanic Falls PD.”

Cashman said information in Lewiston led investigators to the alleged meth lab near the intersection of Pigeon Hill and Austin roads Friday night.

Methamphetamine is an extremely addictive stimulant. Preparing the drug is considered dangerous because the chemicals can create fumes and the risk of fire or explosion.

Cashman said Friday’s investigation was linked to previous meth lab busts in Lewiston this year, but he would not say how.

“The short answer is yes,” Cashman said. “It’s still an ongoing investigation and these methamphetamine production labs take a lot of investigation and it’s fairly lengthy.”
