FARMINGTON — History can be seen Tuesday afternoon when the annual Eastern Invitational Steam Car Tour makes a stop at Kennebec Home Brew Supply and Wild Fern Winery, 235 Farmington Falls Road.
Stanley Museum Executive Director Debbie Smith said the tour is an annual event with the location changing every year. She wanted the tour in the Kingfield area this year for its bicentennial. Kingfield was the birthplace of the Stanley twins.
Taking part in the tour are 16 Stanley Steamer cars from Florida, Illinois, Ohio, New York and the New England states. One or two vehicles from the museum will participate.
John Cormier, co-owner of the winery, said the drivers will stop for a wine tasting at 1 p.m. Tuesday and will stay for an hour or two.
Glen Pound offered extra parking at his storage facility next door and the public is invited to stop by for a meet-and-greet, Cormier said.
“People I have spoken with are psyched to have them coming here,” Cormier said.
Smith said the tour includes a different destination each day this week. Today is Rangeley; Wednesday is Kingfield/Phillips; Thursday is the Norlands Living History Center in Livermore; and Friday is Eustis/Stratton.
There will be a concert Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Mountain Village Farm Bed & Breakfast, Kingfield, which is open to the public. One member of the duet plays a Stanley violin and may bring along her daughter to play another one, Smith said.
