PORTLAND (AP) — Police say a Portland elementary school principal was arrested on suspicion of operating under the influence of alcohol earlier this month.
The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/28JiD62 ) reported that 55-year-old Dawn Kenniston, the principal of Hall Elementary School, was charged June 6 with a misdemeanor count of OUI after police say an officer found her car stopped in traffic.
South Portland police Lt. Frank Clark says the Scarborough woman’s vehicle had run out of gas. He says an officer stopped to talk to her, smelled alcohol on her breath and gave her a breath test, which indicated she had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Portland Schools Interim Superintendent Jeanne Crocker says the district is aware of the charge.
Her attorney says Kenniston has no comment.
