LEWISTON — The swimming pool and splash pad at Kennedy Park opens for the summer at 12:30 p.m. and stays open until 5:30 p.m. It’s open for those hours Monday through Friday and on four Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: July 16, July 23, July 30 and Aug. 6. Free lunches will be offered during the week thanks to Lewiston School Department’s nutrition program. A lifeguard will be on duty at the pool, with staff supervising the splash pad.

Tuesday, June 28

LEWISTON — City Council workshop and special meeting.  The special meeting is first, starting at 6 p.m., and the sole agenda item is a resolution making appointments to the new Lewiston Area Public Health Committee. The workshop follows and agenda topics include raising chickens, using federal HOME funds and Community Credit Union’s Sabattus Street project.

Wednesday, June 29

AUBURN — Sparks’ Ark will bring his menagerie to Festival Plaza at 10 a.m., part of the Lewiston-Auburn Arts in the Park program. The show is free of charge.

AUBURN — The City Council’s Parks Subcommittee is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. in Auburn Hall’s Room 204. The committee plans improvements and upgrades to Auburn’s city parks.

AUBURN — The Auburn Community Concert Band, conducted by Milt Simon, will continue its 35th season at 7 p.m. in Festival Plaza playing “Songs that Bridge Generations.” The performance is free and open to the public. In case of rain, the event will move to The Dolard and Priscilla Gendron Franco Center.

Thursday, June 30

AUBURN — Auburn Recreation will show “ET: The Extraterrestrial” at 9 p.m. in Festival Plaza, part of the Movies in the Park Series. The movie is free of charge, but bring a blanket or a low chair. In case of rain, the event will move to the Ingersoll Turf Arena in Pettengill Park.

Friday, July 1

AUBURN — The Auburn Community Development Loan Committee will meet at 8:15 a.m. in Auburn Hall. The committee provides guidance to city staff, suggests amendments to block grant program guidelines, reviews loan applications and awards or denies loans.

Sunday, July 3

LEWISTON — The Liberty Festival will host a Veterans Ceremony at 6 p.m in Veterans Park at the foot of the Great Falls. The event includes a flag disposal ceremony, and an outdoor movie will be shown.
