MEXICO — The Mexico Congregational Church will host its second annual Country Community BBQ Picnic from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 9.
There will be craft and lawn booths selling items, music, big raffle items and a pie auction.
Food will be sold for all three meals at the picnic, including homemade cinnamon rolls and muffins for breakfast, hot dogs, potato chips and brownies for lunch, and barbecue chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad and homemade pies for dinner.
There will be a pie auction at 6 p.m.
There will be free games and activities for children of all ages, including face-painting, ladder ball, ring toss and cornhole toss. Inside the dining room, younger children can play a variety of games and get a game ticket stamped. When their card is full, they will receive a prize.
There will be classic picnic races throughout the day, such as potato sack races, an egg toss and a water balloon toss.
Informational booths of community programs, including Girl Scouts, Boys Scouts and the Kids Theater at Peru Community Center, will be available downstairs.
Tickets will be sold for the Winner Take All raffle drawing scheduled for Oct. 8. Over $3,000 worth of prizes will be given to one winner. Tickets cost $2 for one, or $5 for three. Tickets will also be sold at the Fourth of July celebration at Hosmer Field in Rumford.

There are a limited amount of crafter/yard sale spaces available for rent on the lawn. The cost is $20 for those staying from at least 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The spaces are 10 by 10 feet. Renters must provide their own tents, tables and chairs, and are responsible for setup and cleanup.
