FARMINGTON — The Sandy River 3, an offshoot of the popular local Bluegrass band, the Sandy River Ramblers, will perform a free concert, on Saturday, July 9, from 4 to 7 p.m., on the lawn behind Mosher’s Meats and Seafood, 595 Farmington Falls Road.

The trio consists of Stan Keach (guitar), Bud Godsoe (banjo and Dobro) and Julie Davenport (upright bass).   The trio is known for soaring vocal harmonies and for Godsoe’s virtuoso instrumental stylings.  Like the Ramblers, they feature many original songs about Maine, mostly penned by Keach, a nationally-known bluegrass songwriter.  Unlike the Ramblers, the trio will also do plenty of cover songs.

Musical phenom Lee Stetson will play short sets between the trio’s sets, and will join Stan, Bud and Julie on a few songs, as well.

There are a few picnic tables, but it’s a good idea to bring a lawn chair.  It the show is rained out, it will be held (weather allowing) the following day: Sunday, July 10.  For more information, call Mosher’s at (207) 779-0544, or call Stan at (207) 397-2241.
