DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 board appointed four members to an interim superintendent search committee Monday night.
They are Chairman Bruce Ross of Dixfield, Richard Dyer of Hartford, Jen LeDuc of Rumford and Jerry Wiley of Buckfield.
Superintendent Craig King has resigned to take a similar position for the Gray-New Gloucester school district in mid-August.
The board has placed advertisements for an interim superintendent in several publications. The deadline for application is July 21. The committee will review them before the board makes a decision.
The board could wait until the end of the year before launching its search for a permanent replacement. It is getting the assistance of the Maine School Management Association.
King said a list of possible interim candidates will likely be available at the board’s next meeting July 25 at Dirigo High School.
In other matters Monday:
* The board hired Rick Gauvin as a two-fifths-time social worker for the district. He has occasionally filled in for social workers in the district in the past.
* The board agreed to allow the special services department to buy two vans for transporting special needs students to off-site venues.
* King directed Buildings, Grounds and Transportation Director Kenny Robbins to submit a school buildings repair project that would cost up to $1 million. The money will come from a state school renovation fund.
