AUBURN — The fourth annual Empowerment Forum for People with Disabilities will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 14 Great Falls Plaza. Keynote speaker will be retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills.

The event will include a panel of individuals who will speak of various transitions in their lives and how they have successfully managed those transitions. There will be an opportunity for people to provide feedback on the various disability service systems.

The event is free for people with disabilities and includes lunch.

Registration is required by Aug. 11. Requests for accommodations must be made by July 28. 

The Empowerment Forum is hosted by the Five+ Council Collaborative, comprised of: the Statewide Independent Living Council, State Rehabilitation Council for Vocational Rehabilitation, the State Rehabilitation Council for the Division of the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Late Deafened, the State Workforce Board’s Commission on Disability and Employment and the Consumer Council System of Maine.
