BETHEL — The Bethel Outing Club will hold its ninth annual Maine State Kids’ Triathlon on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Angevine Park.
The event will begin at 11 a.m., with registration ending Aug. 5, though children can still register from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on the day of the triathlon.
The triathlon is geared toward children ages 8 to 14.
The Maine State Kids’ Triathlon was previously held in conjunction with the Maine State Triathlon, organized by the Bethel Chamber of Commerce.
However, Greenberg said, this is the first year that the Bethel Outing Club has completely taken over the organization of the kids’ triathlon.
According to its website, The Bethel Outing Club is responsible for “proving affordable access for all to cross-country skiing and people-powered sports, such as hiking, bicycling, running, paddling, swimming, and roller-skiing.”
Greenberg said that the triathlon will begin with a 100-yard swim at Angevine Pond, followed by a 3-mile bike ride and a 1-mile run.
He added that the Bethel Outing Club “hopes to have a T-shirt and medal of participation for each child, including day-of-event registrants.”
The price to register is $25.
