PARIS — A former Oxford man who pleaded guilty to terrorizing his wife owes nearly $20,000 in child support payments.

According to a lien placed on his Oxford trailer in February, Scott Pettingill, 48, owes $19,097 in child support dating back to 2008.

Paperwork filed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services with the Oxford County Registry of Deeds says the lien placed on his Everett Avenue property in Oxford increases in value by $200 every week it goes unpaid.

Pettingill, who now lives in Raymond, was arrested last summer. Police said he assaulted his spouse, threatened to burn down their trailer and destroyed her cellphone and computer.

It is not clear whether he owed child support to the victim in the court case.

According to court documents, last October Pettingill pleaded guilty to a single count of misdemeanor domestic violence terrorizing, and in exchange prosecutors dropped misdemeanor charges of assault and criminal mischief. The case will be dismissed if Pettingill commits no new criminal conduct by October.
