RANGELEY — The Rangeley Region Guides & Sportsmen’s Association has announced a different format for its annual Outdoor Sporting Heritage Day.
Beginning this year, the group will present an in-depth program on one aspect of the outdoor sporting life.
This year’s theme: Dogs.
There will be multiple educational clinics, seminars and demonstrations showcasing the training and abilities of sporting dogs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the group’s clubhouse on Old Skiway Road in Oquossoc.
There will be an obedience clinic and agility dog training demonstrations.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks and the famous Guide fries will be served.
Dogs on leashes are welcome.
There will be a Children’s Dog Splash Contest. A temporary dock will be placed in the kid’s fishing pond, and children will be asked to throw a bumper into the pond. The group will see which dogs can make the biggest splash to retrieve the bumper. Children without dogs may borrow Gidget, a German short-haired pointer.
The event is free and open to the public. Those attending will receive a half-price admissions voucher to the Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum for that day.
