UPTON — The seventh annual Upton Fun Day will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20.
The event celebrating the town began in 2010 to commemorate the town’s 150th anniversary.
There will be a parade at 10 a.m., sponsored by the Upton Historical Society. Line up is at 9:30 a.m. at 142 Thistle St. This year’s theme is Transportation: Past through present. Anyone may join as spectator or participant.
The Upton Ladies Aid will sell craft and food items inside the Ladies Aid Building. A raffle will feature a quilt and other items. At 1 p.m., they will serve ice cream and cake.
Vendors will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with ongoing demonstrations throughout the day.
The Historical Society’s collection of documents and artifacts will be open for public viewing on the second floor of the schoolhouse. The group is raffling a handmade, wood-burned coffee table.
There will be a flea-market booth sponsored by the Upton House Inn to benefit the Lakota Sioux, and a children’s carnival booth, where everyone is welcome to play and win a prize.
At 2 p.m., the Letter B Notch Riders will open up the barn for the third annual Chinese auction, down the road from the main area.
At 5 p.m., the day ends with a service at the Upton Church by the Rev. Jane Rich.
