PORTLAND — A Lewiston woman was sentenced Monday in federal court to two years of probation for misappropriation of postal funds.

Jayme L. Temoke, 29, of Lewiston was sentenced by Judge Jon D. Levy to two years of probation and ordered to pay $4,367 in restitution, U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II said in a news release.

Court documents stated that Temoke used her position as postmaster relief for the West Poland post office to embezzle $4,367 in postal funds during June and July 2014.

She originally stated she took the money to support her three children and intended to pay it all back, but was unable to, according to the release.

Temoke pleaded guilty on Feb. 23.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
