AUBURN — If you attended St. Peter’s, St. Joseph’s, Holy Cross, Holy Family, St. Patrick’s, St. Mary’s, St. Louis, Sacred Heart, St. Bernadette, Ave Maria Academy, Cours Superieurs, Our Lady of the Rosary or Trinity Catholic School, this celebration is for you.

On Aug. 13-14, St. Dominic Academy will host a Catholic school reunion for anyone who attended a Catholic elementary school in the area. It’s how St. Dominic Academy is celebrating its 75th year.

The school was founded in 1941 by the Rev. Herve Drouin, then a parish priest. At the time, there were many Catholic grammar schools, but no Catholic high school. Drouin wanted a high school to help Franco-American students excel.

On Saturday, reunions will be held in various classrooms, celebrating former Catholic schools from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Dominic Academy’s Auburn campus. The reunions will include photos, an artifacts slideshow and social hours. That will be followed by an assembly honoring Catholic teachers and a reception.

On Sunday, the Catholic schools will be honored at a noon Mass at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston.
