LEWISTON — Central Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency recently recognized seven third-year family medicine residents at graduation. Honored were family physicians Joshua Garfein, DO, Kara Callahan, MD, Gregory Thibodeau, MD, Sean Tyler O’Sullivan, DO, Leslie Bradbury, MD, Lisa Torgersen, MD, and Nicole Boutaugh, DO.

Program Director Donald “Raj” Woolever, MD, gave the welcome address. Associate Program Director Deborah Taylor, PhD, served as master of ceremonies.

As part of the ceremony, the graduating resident class presented awards to several staff members from Lewiston and the Swift River Rural Training Track. Honored were: Coleen Coffren, RN, Family Medicine Residency Clinical Staff of the Year; Jeff Wall, DO, Community Preceptor of the Year; Eileen Cloonan, MD, Hospitalist of the Year; Steve Jacobs, MD, Mentor of the Year; Bethany Picker, MD, Faculty of the Year; Jaime Collins, MA, Rural Track Clinical Staff of the Year; and Said Daoud, MD, Rural Track Faculty of the Year.

The Dr. Bruce Johnson Residency Teacher of the Year Award went to Bruce Kenney, DO. The award, voted on by graduating residents, is awarded to the physician who made the most outstanding contribution to his family medicine residency education.

The Family Medicine Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine residency diploma was presented to Margo Goodman, DO, C-NMM/OMM, and Family Medicine Sports Medicine Fellowship diplomas were presented to Jill Sadowski, MD, and Heidi Woxland, MD. 

The family medicine hospitalist fellowship diplomas were presented to Sara Sterling, DO, and Seth Stein, MD.

The Boston University School of Medicine Alpha Omega Alpha Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award was presented to Bruce Kenney. The award is presented annually to a clinical preceptor who has contributed substantially to the education of medical students at that school.

Resident Chief Awards for Lewiston were presented to co-chiefs Callahan and O’Sullivan. Rural Track Chiefs were Bradbury and Torgersen.

The Resident Teaching Award was presented to Thibodeau; the Resident Professionalism Award to Susan Miller, MD; and the Resident Research Award to Joshua Garfein, DO.

Integrative Medicine Residency awards were presented to O’Sullivan and Thibodeau in honor of their successful completion of 100 hours of additional learning modules.
