LEWISTON — The Twin Cities will host their first Color Me Rad 5K from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.

The race will start near the center of Simard-Payne Memorial Park, sweeping around the park and crossing the trestle bridge into Auburn. From there, runners will go through Moulton Park to Hutchins, to High Street, to Academy Street and turn left onto Main Street. Runners will go through Festival Plaza and travel the Riverwalk back to the trestle bridge and back to Simard-Payne. From there, runners will leave the park by turning right onto Oxford Street, left on Chestnut and up the hill to Kennedy Park. Runners will exit the park by turning right on Spruce Street and then right on Park Street, left back on Chestnut and right back on Oxford, returning to Simard-Payne.

According to race organizers, runners will move through eight RAD color stations where they will be covered from head to toe in powders and gels of pink, yellow, green, blue and violet.

During the event on the Auburn side, Main Street will be closed from Court to Newberry, Academy Street will be closed from Main to High, and High Street will be closed from Academy to Main.

In Lewiston, Chestnut Street from Oxford to Park streets will be closed to all traffic starting at 8:30 a.m. Through traffic will not be allowed on intersecting streets. Spruce and Park will be limited to a single lane for local traffic only, as will some other downtown streets to accommodate detours.

Access to the Chestnut Street parking garage will not be permitted from Chestnut Street. Cars will be able to enter from the Lincoln Street side.

Traffic will be affected from 6 a.m. to noon to accommodate setup and removal of detour signs.

Color Me Rad is a for-profit business based in Utah and will donate a portion of its proceeds to the YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston.
