WEST PARIS — First Universalist Church of West Paris has announced its upcoming June worship services. Sunday worship services are at 9 a.m. All are welcome.
June 5: Julia Ward Howe: “Unitarian Social Reformer,” led by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson. The service will use Elaine Showalter’s “The Civil Wars of Julia Ward Howe” as its guide in tracing Howe’s remarkable life as poet, abolitionist, mother, lecturer and feminist.
June 12: “Teach Your Children Well,” led by the Rev. Kate Braestrup. She will explore what religious liberals do and ought to do to teach their children.
June 18: Memorial service for Eleanor Inman at the First Universalist Church of West Paris at 11 a.m. A gathering will immediately follow at the West Paris Historical Society.
June 19: “Flower Communion,” led by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson. The last service of the church year will tell the story of the origins of the Flower Communion and attendees will celebrate their own Flower Communion. Those attending are allowed to bring flowers from their garden. Those without flower gardens will find plenty of flowers to share.
June 26: Members will attend the Mission Congregational Church worship service at 9 a.m.
Beginning July 10, parishioners may attend West Sumner Universalist Church summer worship services in Sumner.
