AUBURN — Two separate fights occurred that led to five arrests — one late Saturday and the other early Sunday.
Auburn Police Sgt. Steve Gosselin said the first fight occurred at 11:37 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Minot Avenue during a wedding reception after neighbors called police to report a disturbance.
“Officers arrived to find about 100 people in the parking lot involved in the disturbance, and additional enforcement was called in from Lewiston and State police,” Gosselin said.
18-year-old Arbai Abdi from Lewiston and three juvenile participants were charged with disorderly conduct for fighting. All four were taken to Androscoggin County Jail.
The three minors were summonsed and released to their parents; Abdi had made bail and been released by Sunday evening.
Less than two hours later, a disturbance was called in at Sapphire Night Club on Center Street for what Gosselin described as a standard fight.
Jonathan Scott Mercier, 29, was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and disorderly conduct. He made bail and has been released.
David Glenn, 39, stepped in during the fight according to Gosselin. He was also charged with disorderly conduct, but only received a summons.
