AUBURN – The group Maine Food Strategy will hold a workshop at the Good Shepherd Food Bank on Aug. 24 for anyone interested in learning more about strengthening Maine’s food system, including those involved in farming, fishing, food processing, distribution and sales.
The group has several goals:
• Achieve annual market growth in Maine’s food sector in a sustainable manner;
• Improve the ability of businesses across the food production supply chain to manage marketplace growth and change;
• Increase incomes and access to benefits for food supply workers;
• Promote public policies that support farms, fisheries and other food production supply chain businesses;
• Ensure food-insecure individuals have access to resources that address their needs.
MFS will host a workshop to discuss those goals and ways of reaching them at the Good Shepherd Food Bank, 3121 Hotel Road, from 3 to 5 p.m. There will be an informational tour of the food bank’s facilities for those who are interested from 2 to 3 p.m.
The meeting is open to business owners, producers, processors, community organizers and others.
The group will also hold a webinar from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 7. RSVPs are requested. Email [email protected]
