For years, we have sat at a table in our home and gone over the family’s budget for the following year. It is very simple — we do not spend more than we earn.

But that just doesn’t seem to be the case down in Washington. President Obama, in his eight years, has never brought forth a budget plan that balances, and we have seen our national debt grow to nearly $20 trillion.

One of the first things Congressman Bruce Poliquin did in Congress was go down to the House floor and speak in support of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. This amendment would require Washington’s spending to be in check, reduce our national deficit and create more jobs.

Our federal government’s spending is out of control. We need more fiscally responsible people in Washington, like Congressman Bruce Poliquin.
